Silicon Nitride Ceramic:

Carbide ceramics include silicon carbide, boron carbide, cerium carbide, molybdenum carbide, niobium carbide, zirconium carbide, titanium carbide, vanadium carbide, tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide, etc. This kind of carbide has high melting point, hardness and wear resistance, but poor high temperature oxidation resistance (about 900℃~1000℃), and high brittleness. a. Properties of carbide ceramics Ⅰ. Carbide ceramics have a high melting point. For example, the melting point of titanium carbide is 3460°C, the melting point of tungsten carbide is 2720°C, and the melting point of zirconium carbide is 3540°C.
Ⅱ. Carbide ceramics have higher hardness. For example, boron carbide is the hardest material after diamond and cubic boron nitride. Ⅲ. Good thermal conductivity and chemical stability. Carbide ceramics do not react with acid, and individual metal carbide ceramics do not react with acid even if heated. The most stable carbide ceramics are not even corroded by the mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. b. Classification of carbide ceramics
Ⅰ. Silicon Carbide Ceramic The density of silicon carbide ceramic is (3.2×10 kg/m³, the bending strength is 200-250 MPa, the compressive strength is 1000-1500 MPa, the hardness of Mohs is 9.2, the thermal conductivity is very high, and the thermal expansion coefficient is very small. Slowly oxidize at 900℃~1300℃.
Ⅱ. Boron carbide ceramics Boron carbide ceramics have extremely high hardness and strong resistance to abrasive wear. The melting point is up to 2450°C. It will rapidly oxidize at high temperatures and react with heat or molten ferrous metals. The use temperature is limited to 980°C. Mainly used as abrasives, sometimes used to make super-hard tool materials. Ⅲ. Other carbide ceramics Molybdenum carbide, niobium carbide, tantalum carbide, tungsten carbide and zirconium carbide ceramics have high melting points and hardness, and are used as high-temperature materials in neutral or reducing atmospheres above 2000 ℃; niobium carbide and titanium carbide are used High temperature materials in nitrogen atmosphere above 2500°C.
Carbide ceramics are mainly used as high-temperature materials or high-power materials in the chemical industry, automobile industry, nuclear industry, microelectronics industry, laser and other fields. In mold manufacturing, it is often used in wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant wire drawing dies, forming dies, hot die casting molds, honeycomb ceramic molds, etc.
